EBONY Magazine Reporter, Kevin Chappell asked President Obama about a 1 in 50 Child Homeless Rate in America.
At Last nights Prime-Time, Presidential Press Conference, Kevin Chappell of Ebony Magazine asked President BarackObama, about a report that found 1 in 50 Children in America are homeless 
That was a very sobering question. It made me stop thinking for a moment. When I started thinking again, all I thought about was images of American Children sleeping in Tent Cites. Even after the Presidential Press Conference.
I have five children whom, I love with all my heart. No Parent in America, should have to be homeless. For a Child to be without a home is….I can’t find the words. Home is the Sanctuary in which a child grows and learns. Being homeless can make a child become irrational, withdrawn, unhappy and not able to perceive any sort of hope.
This in-turn causes Crime to go up among Children. A Homeless Child is something that cannot be tolerated.
How Can We Give a Homeless Child a Home?
That’s a tough question. There are a lot of Americans who would suggest that the Parents “just get a job”. Those who say that are obviously employed. Good for them. But what about the people who had jobs that were outsourced? What about the Small Businesses that have closed – leaving millions out of work? Those people have children as well. Yes, the picture is much wider than “just get a job”.
“Land Contract With America”
I propose a Land Contract With America. Millions of Foreclosed Homes are sitting empty and vacant. There are children, and Veterans living on the streets. Why not allow those American Homeless Families and Veterans to live in Foreclosed Homes?
The Land Contract with America, would take hundreds of thousands of Children, Families and Veterans off of the streets. It’s a very practical step to solving the Homeless problem. Qualifying parents could have their rent Subsidized, based on their last 3 months of income.
Some may argue, “that plan would be a burden on the American Taxpayer”.
My rebuttal is, “the American Taxpayer has already paid for it through the last few rounds of Bail-Outs.
U.S. Treasury Secretary, Timothy Geithner
In Fact, U.S. Treasury Secretary, Tim Geithner, is still seeking to buy bad Debt (Toxic Assets from failing Banks). So the Banks and Institutions are being Bailed-Out, while American Children, Families and Veteran’s sleep in Tent Cities? This can’t be right!
American Children Should Not Have to Live Homeless
A land Contract with America, will provide Children, Families and Veterans with a stable home, that’s being paid for through the Bail-Outs. The families would be required to take good care of the home, with regular maintenance.
Any tenant found not keeping up the home, damaging the home, or engaging in any criminal activity while living in the home, could be subject to eviction.
The Land Contract with America, is Debt Warriors Solution to the growing crisis of homelessness of American Children and Veterans.
