Looking To Settle a Debt With A Collection Attorney?
No, worries
you can settle your debt in the hands of a Collection Attorney. This time around, I’ll share some quality information to help you get started and protect yourself from Debt Collection Law firm.
Have you been contacted by a Debt Collection Attorney?
If so, It’s wise to be on guard. My experience working in two different Law Firms (Immigration and Bankruptcy Prevention) taught me to deeply respect Attorneys and the power and process of the Law . So, you should be on guard when anyone claiming they’re calling from a Debt Collection Law Firm on behalf of a client.
Be Prepared – Never Scared
One of my clients, “Barbara W.” was contacted by the Law-Firm of Shermetta, Adams, Von Allmen P.C. – a Debt Collection Attorney, in Dearborn, Michigan. Barbara was informed by the “Lady from the Law Firm”, that the call was “…an attempt to collect on a Credit Card debt on behalf of Applied Bank…”
The Lady at the Law Firm proceeded to offer Barbara a 40% settlement on the account. Ironically, this was not good news to Barbara.
Barbara knew that she didn’t owe Applied Bank ANY money. But she didn’t want any trouble with an Attorney. Over the years Barbara suffered some unfortunate tussles with Lawyers. Barabra really didn’t want to have another Legal Battle to fight. So Barbara called me, told me about the Law Firm and asked me to “settle the matter for her”.

On-Time Order, Life-Time of Savings!
Since I teach people how to settle their debt for themselves, I told Barbara I would walk her through the process of settling the debt. But I disclosed and insisted that she would have to do most of the work – for herself. Barbara agreed to my conditions and I immediately asked Barbara to 3-way the offices of Shermetta, Adams, Von Allmen P.C.
Give The Collection Attorney Notice And Take Notes
Barbara placed me on hold and called the Law Firm. Once she was connected Barbara brought me into the call. The Lady from the Law Firm, answered and Barbara introduced herself and I. I immediately greeted to the Lady at the Law Firm. The Lady at the Law Firm responded by reading Barbara and I the “Mini-Miranda” Statement.
“Please be informed that this is an attempt to collect the Debt and any information will be used for that purpose…”
I responded, by asking the name of the Lady at the Law Firm of Shermetta, Adams, Von Allmen P.C., a direct extension number to her desk and I put her on notice, with the following DEBT WARRIORS Statement.
” Please be advised that this call is being be documented in case of any violations of the Fair Debt Collections Practices Act, and Fair Credit Reporting Act. ”
Of course the Lady at the Law Firm didn’t like my disclosure
But Debt Settlement is not always peaceful. In fact Debt Settlement is a War On Debt. So, realizing that Barbara didn’t call to accept the Debt Settlement offer from Applied Bank, the Lady from the Law Firm tried to bully Barbara. She made the usual veiled threats. The Lady from the Law Firm said; ” I’m trying to settle this matter without having to go to Court.” I replied, “are you an Attorney?” Which leads us to your next step.

- WHAT you’ll need to do in order to make the Debt Collection Attorney back off, if you don’t owe the debt.
In Barbara’s case, the Collection Attorney was taking the word of their client and ignoring the true facts – understandable but NOT acceptable. What was acceptable (to me) was the fact that Barbara just wanted to settle the debt with the Lady at the Law Firm.
